Things people ask
- Do you charge planning fees? +
- The initial consultation is free. If you decide to move forward with planning, a $60 planning fee is charged. For group trips (5 or more rooms), a $90 planning fee is charged. If you book the trip with me, that fee is credited back toward your trip, if the trip is booked within 14 days.
- What's a typical trip budget? +
- There is no single "sticker price." We don't look at a budget as a limitation; we look at it as a blueprint. Discussing your financial comfort zone during our initial consultation means every single recommendation fits your style and your wallet perfectly.
- Do I need a passport? +
- You'll need a valid passport for any international travel, including cruises that visit foreign ports. For closed-loop cruises (those that start and end in the United States), an original birth certificate may be acceptable for boarding certain cruise lines. For U.S. travelers, a passport must be: valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date (many countries require this), in good condition with no major damage, and signed and up to date. If you're flying within the United States, including Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, a passport is required if you do not have a government-issued Real ID.
- Do I need travel insurance? +
- Travel insurance isn't required, but it's highly recommended because it protects your trip — and your wallet — from the unexpected. Even the best-planned vacations can face surprises like flight delays, lost luggage, medical emergencies, or last-minute cancellations. Insurance helps you recover those costs so a bump in the road doesn't turn into a major expense.
- What's the difference between travel insurance and travel protection? +
- Travel insurance and travel protection sound similar, but they're not the same thing. Travel insurance is a regulated insurance product backed by an insurance company that provides financial protection for unexpected events before or during your trip — trip cancellation or interruption, emergency medical coverage, emergency evacuation, lost/delayed/damaged baggage, and travel delay reimbursement. Travel protection is usually a package of non-insurance benefits offered by travel suppliers (like cruise lines or tour companies). It often includes cancel-for-any-reason credits or vouchers, supplier change or cancellation waivers, limited reimbursement options, and basic assistance services. Travel protection is generally more flexible but may not offer the same level of financial or medical coverage as true insurance, and many plans provide future travel credits instead of cash refunds. If you want strong medical coverage, cash reimbursement, and regulated protection, travel insurance is the better choice. If you want simple cancellation flexibility with supplier credits, travel protection may be enough.
